EUTSCHER TASCHENBUCH VERLAG, now known generally by its label dtv, was established in Munich in 1960 as the joint paperback publishing house of several German book publishers. GANSKE VERLAGSGRUPPE has been a dtv shareholder since 1978. The other partners are the publishing houses: C.H. Beck, Carl Hanser as well as Friedrich Oetinger.

In the past 20 years, dtv has published many paperback editions of successful new books from the Hoffmann und Campe list. Amongst others, Siegfried Lenz, Asta Scheib, Irene Dische, Edward P. Jones, William Trevor, Karl-Heinz Ott but also Wolf Haas and Milena Agus belong with their latest bestsellers to the most widely read authors in dtv editions.
